On February 16, 2024, at approximately 8:03 PM, the Dixon Police Department received a report of an assault occurring in the 400 block of Newgate Way. Responding officers arrived at the scene to discover a confrontation had ensued in the area, leading to reports of a firearm being discharged during the incident.

Witness accounts reveal during the altercation, an individual involved in the fight brandished a firearm and discharged a single shot. It is believed that the shot was fired into the air. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident, and no property damage was found.

The Dixon Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation into this matter.
