Ron DuPratt Ford is proud to host a catalytic converter engraving and theft deterrent event on March 18, 2023 from 9 am-3 pm, in partnership with the Dixon Police Department and the Dixon Police Officers' Association. This event is open to the public (first-come, first-served) and is aimed at helping combat catalytic converter theft.
 
Catalytic converter theft has been on the rise in recent years, and many vehicle owners have fallen victim to this crime. Thieves target catalytic converters because they contain valuable metals like platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which can be sold for a profit. However, catalytic converters can be engraved with unique markings that deter thieves and help police identify stolen property.
 
At the event, vehicle owners can bring their cars, trucks, and SUVs to Ron DuPratt Ford to have their catalytic converters engraved with a unique identification number and paint. This process takes just a few minutes and is free of charge. Engraving a catalytic converter makes it less attractive to thieves, who are less likely to steal a marked converter. Additionally, the engraving helps law enforcement identify stolen property and prosecute thieves.
 
The event is co-sponsored by the Dixon Police Department and the Dixon Police Officers' Association, who will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about catalytic converter theft prevention.
