Today at 11:08 AM, Dixon Police responded to a report of a student with a weapon at John Knight Middle School. A School Resource Officer and other police personnel responded and discovered a 13-year-old male student had a semi-automatic pistol with magazines inside his backpack. As a precautionary measure, the school was briefly put in lockdown while school district and police personnel ensured that no additional threats to student safety existed.
The student was arrested for violations of the Penal Code, specifically Possession of a Firearm in School Zone (629.9(b) PC) – (felony), Minor in Possession of a Concealable Firearm (29610 PC) – (felony), Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine (32310(a) PC) – (misdemeanor), Minor Posses Live Ammunition (29650 PC) - (misdemeanor) and Carrying a Concealed Firearm (25400(a)(2) PC) - (misdemeanor). The student was booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall and remanded to their custody. State law prohibits the sharing of additional information about the student.
The weapon and magazines were seized as evidence, and the investigation into how the student obtained the weapon is ongoing. An administrative inquiry will be conducted by the Dixon Unified School District regarding the juvenile’s status as a student.
