The City of Dixon is excited to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant from the Federal Railroad Administration for the construction of the Parkway Boulevard Overcrossing. This marks a pivotal step forward in enhancing public safety.

The City was awarded $25,221,639 in funding under the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) Program.

“We would like to thank Congressman Mike Thompson and the Solano Transportation Authority for their help in securing funding for this vital infrastructure. The Parkway Boulevard Overcrossing will improve roadway safety, provide quicker access to first responders, and a safer route to school for many children in Dixon,” City Manager Jim Lindley said about the project, "This grant represents a monumental opportunity for Dixon to enhance safety and connectivity within our community. We are deeply grateful to the Federal Railroad Administration for their support and look forward to the positive impact this project will have on our community."

The Parkway Boulevard Rail Safety Project will provide a vital safety connection over a highly used passenger and freight rail corridor. The City of Dixon is currently bisected by the railroad with over 40 trains traveling through the city each day. The Parkway Boulevard Overcrossing will be the first grade-separated crossing in the City, providing transportation and pedestrian access in case of emergency.

By elevating the roadway over the train tracks, we can reconnect the eastern and western portions of the city, provide a safer route for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists, and improve access to local schools and planned housing developments. City officials are finalizing the design and specifications. Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2025, with completion between 2027 and 2028.
