Dixon Police Dept. Press Release

The Dixon Police Department is continuing its investigation into a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of West F Street shortly after 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 31.

The shooting evolved from a verbal dispute, which began when a group of individuals purportedly associated with a local street gang approached another group of individuals believed to be associated with a rival gang. During the dispute, at least one subject produced a firearm and fired several rounds toward the opposing group. The shots struck a member of the other group who was on foot and involved in the verbal dispute, as well as another person in a vehicle also associated with the opposing group. Members of both parties fled the area, both on foot and in vehicles.

There is no ongoing threat to public safety. The Dixon Police Department assures the community that this incident is isolated to the two groups involved.

Investigators have several leads in the case and are reviewing video of the incident.
