The City of Dixon's planning services are administered by a two-member team of planners. The Planning Division has primary responsibility for activities including:
Another essential function for the division is to provide the public with information and guidance concerning development, General Plan policies, zoning district regulations, permit procedures, floodplain boundaries, planning statistics, property information, growth trends, and other information relevant to land use and the orderly development of the community.
The General Plan update was completed in May 2021. The new General Plan (General Plan 2040) can be found on the General Plan page. The General Plan update changed some land use designations and policies that result in inconsistencies with the zoning. The City is embarking on a process to perform a Comprehensive Update to the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map. It is anticipated to start in Fall 2021 and be completed by mid 2023. Please check with a planner to ensure that any new development proposal is consistent with the General Plan land use designation.
