Council Priorities
Invest in Infrastructure Improvements for Improved Quality of Life
- Secure additional funding to close the funding gap and begin construction on the Parkway Blvd. Overpass
- Develop a regional drainage solution for the east side of the city with agriculture, developers, city, and county (Northeast is Phase 1)
- Develop solutions to address Dixon water service including deferred maintenance and financial sustainability
- Pursue strategies for a City Hall annex
- Pursue a citywide solution to address the funding gaps of the city’s Lighting and Landscaping Management Districts (LLMD)Develop a plan to address ongoing and deferred maintenance concerns (e.g., roads, parks, bike paths)
Support Community and Economic Development and Promote Dixon as a Destination
- Complete zoning update for the Northeast Quadrant
- Explore opportunities that attract visitors year-round and create amenities for residents to enjoy without having to leave Dixon (i.e., potential cultural/event center)
- Complete construction of Southwest Homestead Well
- Highlight and celebrate city accomplishments, assets and amenities
- Continue to support local businesses
Ensure Services Keep Pace with Community Growth
- Complete the Parks Master Plan Update
- Develop a funding strategy to build a new Fire Station in Southwest part of the City
- Support implementation of the new financial software, including community development module
- Pursue new funding strategies to support services to a growing community, including a potential sales tax measure
- Develop strategies to recruit, support, and retain police officers
Build Partnerships and Strengthen Engagement
- Partner with the school district for improved school safety, including emergency planning
- Build on success of new Public Information Officer for continued public engagement
- Partner with key stakeholders for community programming (i.e., sports, cultural programs)
